The Amaryllis is a huge steel freighter full of game fish and pelagic species.

The Amaryllis is a 441 foot long vessel which was sunk as an artificial reef near Palm Beach in 1968 to improve the fishing industry. Before this steel freighter was send to the ocean floor they removed its superstructure remaining only its hull, helm and bottom decks which are now overgrown with coral.

It is possible to enter the wreck but be careful not to stir up silt and reduce sight for other divers. Take a look at its enormous engines but take care not to bang into sharp metal objects. Its age and the prevailing strong currents have made this ship favourite for many larger pelagic species and sport fish such as barracuda, cobia, snook, grunts and jacks. Its hull is covered in coral which has attracted resident Atlantic spadefish, huge green moray eels and delicious sailfish. Drift diving here is often combined with a dive to the Mispah, less than 300 yards to the south and to the PC 1174.
