Paul Mains Reef was named in memory of a fisherman who was one of the most devoted club members.

Paul G. Mains Reef was constructed in 1967 when they dumped car wrecks and large amounts of concrete culvert pipes at a designated place in the ocean. The reef was named after a dedicated fishermen and club member who wrote articles for the Florida Times-Union and did everything in his power to convince people to join the club.

Today, this artificial reef holds three large tugboats and a small barge, all located upright and still quite intact. The best known tugboat is Paul Mains Tug with a solid hull, open structure and a wheelhouse rising to within fifty feet below the surface. Soft corals, plant life and marine life is vivid here with species such as snappers and groupers popular by fishermen as well as divers.
