Naples, Fort Myers, Boca Grande and Venice to the north are several places that are known to divers in this area as there are some spectacular dive sites to be done. Most planned artificial reefs sit between six and fourteen miles offshore. This area has some fantastic remote and deeper wrecks perfect for technical divers, but many wrecks and inshore dive sites for novice divers are great as well. Visibilities range from almost nothing near shore up till more than one hundred foot once farther out. The water temperature is warm year around and ranges between 65 and 90 Fahrenheit (19-32 degrees Celsius). There are often strong winds and choppy seas in winter, which reduce visibility.
Naples is a sunny beach destination where many tourists from all over the world travel to for some relaxing weeks (Naples Hotels). Top bars, nice entertainment, exclusive dining, golf courses and many other attractions to keep you entertained. Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary and Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park are some of the recreational area's to get away from the crowds. Thrilling Diving and fishing tours and for visitors that like some culture; there are some nice historical towns nearby.
The most famous wreck is probably the Bayronto, a huge freighter that sank because of a hurricane when it was fully loaded with wheat. Many other dive sites can be visited although most of the better ones require a long boat ride out into the Gulf of Mexico. Enjoy this diving paradise.
