Dive site Rock Key is one poorly marked but with excellent coral and several parts of larger wrecks.

Rock Key is a popular dive/snorkel site approx 7 miles SSE of Key West Harbor in the NMS (National Marine Sanctuary) between Sand Key Light and Eastern Dry Rocks. It is a SPA (Special Preservation Area) where no fishing, collecting, or lobstering is permitted. The South side of this reef is ringed with white NMS buoys. Many boats go aground here because it is poorly marked and depths of less than a foot are common just north of the NMS buoys. Sea turtles, nurse sharks, reef sharks, and barracuda are common here with plenty of smaller tropicals as well. The reef radiates coral spurs with sand grooves from its center to the East, South and West. Several large wrecks are found here including parts from a steamship.
