The 110 foot steel ocean tug boat called Pegasus was build in 1927 and served as a steam tug in the New York harbour. When it ran out of service it was used as a restaurant in Miami until it served as a casino's ticket booth for the San Carlos Island casino cruise. Then in 1999, it was scuttled as an artificial reef in 1999. Located off Fort Myers, 50km west of Redfish Pass and 55km from Stump Pass, she is great to look at. Fish life is amazing, coral growth is spectacular in the first two decades. Because of its distance from shore, its outstanding visibility, its proximity to the artificial USS Mohawk CGC Veterans Memorial Reef, it is one of the most popular dive regions in south-West Florida. This highly deteriorating upright wreck has an open hull where you can swimmthrough. Snappers, scamps, permit, jewfish and barracudas are often seen.
