South County Artificial Reef was constructed between 2001 and 2003 at only eleven miles west of the shores of St Petersburg and the Pass-A-Grille entry marker. The most famous dive site here is a steel harbour tugboat named Orange which is located two hundred yards east of the black/yellow buoy. If you like muck diving you are better off visiting Site One, which is loaded with debris and other objects to encourage coral growth. It is one of the dive area's that doesn't require such a long ride on the boat often with great visibility and perfect conditions for underwater photography.
