The Civil War Wreck was a steam powered, wooden vessel with these days not much left other than timber poles nailed together with iron pins. She got her name from the American Civil War in 1861 which people believe to be her estimated year of wreckage. This 40 feet long and 15 feet wide ship is located just north of the tower in an area which is a delight for observing macroscopic life and shooting the best pictures.
It is not a very large site but definitely one you will enjoy if you like large amounts of fish and different types of coral. Leftovers of its wooden structure have created many natural overhangs full of snappers, goatfish and grunts. Moray eels are easy to find in all its cracks and holes and even nudibranches are sighted regularly.
