Islamorada is one of America's top diving locations but even better known for its game fishing, whether it are marlin, tuna, tarpon, bonefish or snapper you want to fish on. With warm water temperatures and good visibilities year around diving Islamorada is becoming more and more popular with some of the best dive sites you will ever see.

The Village of Islands as Islamorada is called as well is squashed in between two beauties of Mother Nature; the Everglades in the northwest and the only living barrier reef of the United States in the southeast. Officially speaking it consists out of six keys named Plantation Key, Upper Matecumbe Key, Lower Matecumbe Key, Windley Key and the islands of Lignumvitae Key and Indian Key, all in Monroe County, Florida. Activities such as spear fishing, fly-fishing, scuba diving and snorkelling are very popular but it also attracts beach, birds and walking enthusiasts. Other attractions are its famous history of diving museum, theatre of the sea aquarium, excellent seafood dining, luxury lodging and honeymoon paradise number one. Indian Key State Historic Site is an area used by doctors to send people for illness treatments. Islamorada's name is coming from Spanish explorers and means purple island.

Several of the more famous dive sites in this area are the 287 foot long freighter the Eagle, deeper Conch Reef and Crocker Reef. Often a bit quieter than neighbour Key Largo, it has brilliant reef dive sites, ancient shipwrecks and caves to explore.
