At the ocean side of Molasses Reef we have some spectacular deeper dive sites available for divers. Near the three marking points at depth between forty and sixty feet you will find narrow sand channels and small coral ridges, with its lush coral formations interspersed with white sandy patches. Swimming outward to the ocean you will eventually find a small drop-off all the way down to ninety feet. At this depth, hard corals begin to make way for soft coral sponges such as huge elephant ear and barrel sponges. Some of the marine life that visits this area often are queen angelfish, hawksbill turtles and spotted eagle rays. While drifting along the wall chances are high to find myriad grunts, barracuda and jacks.
