The MV Shasha Boekenier or MV Richard Rachmann was built in Hamburg, Germany in 1962 as a 185 feet long transport ship carrying cargo throughout Europe. Other names she received were the MV Richard II and the Wega III before she was finally renamed to the Shasha Boekanier. As with many other vessels this ship was sailing under Belizean flag from Haiti to Miami and back. She was caught smuggling cocaine in April 2001. One of the sights you shouldn't miss is a memorial statue at its northern tip placed there by fire fighters and police to honour fire-fighter Peter L. Firehock.
