Researchers believe that the Windlass Wreck used to be the Slobodana which is a 170 foot long wooden hulled schooner. This Austrian sailing vessel struck Molasses Reef in 1887 after being in service for only three years. Located at marking point M7 and M8, just east of the lighthouse of Molasses Reef this schooner is an easy dive site with moderate currents, good visibility and shallow depths.

She is also known as The Winch or The Winch Hole referring to the ten foot long iron winch that is one of the few recognizable parts left at this dive site. Beautifully positioned on the sand surrounded by coral reef she is covered in red rope sponges and colourful bryozoans. Other leftovers are its mast partners and multiple gears; in one word a perfect dive site to get familiar with what this reef has to offer.
